AutoAuth Access

Global auto maker Stellantis, the largest automaker in the world. including Fiat, Crysler, Dodge, Ram, Alfa Romeo, Abarth, Lancia and Maserati vehicles, have decided to upgrade their security system in 2018 and newer vehicles. these vehicles are manufactured with a Secure Gateway module which means unauthorized devices will only be allowed passive (read-only) access to the vehicle’s private network.  Passive means the ability to read codes and data but limits other needed functionality to properly diagnose the vehicle.  In order to have full access to these vehicles, Technician will have to register their diagnostic tools with AutoAuth.

       AutoAuth is a service that allows technicians to use their aftermarket diagnostic tools to perform secure functions on vehicles with security gateway module that will otherwise be locked. AutoAuth provides the registration service to unlock and grant access to the vehicles security system.   accounts will allow the technicians access to the private side of the vehicle’s network which is needed to perform diagnostic testing, code clearing, and other functions.

        some time ago, Autel offered a cable adaptor that would allow older scan tools to be attached to Stellantis vehicles in a way that bypassed the Secure Gateway module during service. However, Stellantis has announced that they are upgrading their Secure Gateway in a way that will detect this type of bypass and still deny the user access despite the user using the 12+8 cable on their newer vehicles. Stellantis has also started installing their Secure Gateway module deeper into the dash making it harder to access.
