Nissan TSB NTB22-003 for the 2022 Nissan Rogue with the KR15DDT (I3) engine states the importance of replacing the drain plug gasket with every oil change along with torquing the drain plug to the required specification of 33.5 Nm (25 ft lbs). This vehicle is equipped with an engine that utilizes a plastic oil pan with a threaded drain plug insert. We are receiving some reports that the threaded drain plug insert is breaking and detaching from the oil pan possibly due to over-torquing the drain plug. if you are having the same or similar issue, please let us know in the comments.

    Plastic oil pan. stated to change the oil, when we removed the oil pan bolt, the threaded drain plug broke. Specs say to tighten to 25lbs, when I called the dealer, they said not to tighten the bolt to 25 ft lbs, like the manual says but instead tighten to 15 ft lbs. Thats what their service department does. They would not pay for the new oil pan we had to buy, it was $231.00 out the door, even though the car is still under warranty.
